    Potato and Garlic Mash

    Mash is the perfect partner for bangers. Try this recipe flavoured with garlic or buy ready-prepared Waitrose Fresh Mashed Potato or order some ready-made from Waitrose Entertaining - By Invitation.

    • 2kg white potatoes, such as Marfona or King Edward
    • 6 cloves garlic
    • 75g butter
    • 150ml milk


    1. Peel and dice the potatoes into 3cm pieces, and place in a large pan with the garlic. Cover with cold water and bring to the boil. Cover and simmer for 12-15 minutes until tender, then drain. Return the potatoes and garlic to the pan and mash until smooth.
    2. Over a low heat, push the mash to one side, add the butter to the base of the pan and allow to melt. Pour the milk onto the butter and heat for 1-2 minutes, then beat into the mash to combine. (For fluffier mash, use a balloon whisk and beat for 2-3 minutes until smooth.) Season and serve.
