    Spiced almonds

    A perfect pre-dinner or bonfire night nibble.

    • Total time: 25 minutes 25 minutes

    Serves: 6


    • Vegetable oil, for greasing
    • 200g whole blanched almonds
    • 1 egg white, lightly whisked
    • 100g caster sugar
    • ½ tsp sea salt
    • 1 tsp cumin
    • 1 tsp paprika
    • ½ tsp crushed chillies


    1. Preheat the oven to 170c, gas mark 3. Line a baking tray with foil and brush lightly with vegetable oil.
    2. Toss the almonds in the egg white. Add the remaining ingredients; mix well. Spread the nuts on the tray in one layer; bake for 20–25 minutes, stirring halfway through. Leave to cool before serving.
