Steak, Sage and Melting Mozzarella on Cheese Bread

Steak with garlic and sage makes this a satisfying, easy-to-make supper.

    • Preparation time: 5 minutes
    • Cooking time: 10 minutes
    • Total time: 15 minutes 15 minutes

    Serves: 4

    • 1 Waitrose Three Cheese Square with Caramelised Garlic
    • 5 tbsp sun-dried tomato paste
    • 2 tbsp olive oil
    • 1 clove garlic, very thinly sliced
    • ½ pack fresh sage
    • 2 x 300g packs Waitrose British Beef Sirloin Steaks
    • 2 x 125g pack La Favola Buffalo Mozzarella di Bufala, drained and sliced
    • Salt
    • Freshly ground black pepper

    1. Preheat the oven to 200°C, gas mark 6. Halve the bread horizontally, then cut each piece in half to give a total of four rectangular pieces of bread. Place on a baking sheet, cut-side up, and bake for 8 minutes, or until lightly golden. Spread with the sun-dried tomato paste.
    2. Meanwhile, heat the oil in a large frying pan, add the garlic and sage (reserving a few leaves for garnish) and cook for 1 minute. Season the steaks and cook in the oil for 1 minute each side, until browned but still pink in the centre - or cooked according to taste.
    3. Arrange the steaks on each piece of bread and top with mozzarella. Return to the oven for 2 minutes, or until the cheese is just melting. Season with black pepper, garnish with sage, and serve with Waitrose Pesto and Parmesan Traditional Hand Cooked Chips.
