    Teriyaki sweetcorn with broccoli and onion

    A tasty crowd-pleaser, great for the grill or barbecue, and only 45p per serving

    • 4 essential Waitrose Sweetcorn (corn on the cob)
    • 375g essential Waitrose Broccoli, cut into florets
    • 1 tbsp Sunflower oil
    • 3 tbsp Cooks' Ingredients Teriyaki Sauce
    • Juice of 1 lime
    • ½ tsp chilli flakes
    • 2 essential Waitrose Red Onions, cut into wedges


    1. Cut each cob into 4 pieces. Cook the corn, and broccoli florets in a large pan of boiling water for a couple of minutes to blanch, then plunge into cold water and drain thoroughly.
    2. Mix the oil, teriyaki sauce, lime juice and chilli flakes in a shallow dish and add the warm corn and broccoli. Marinate for 5 minutes or longer if you have time.
    3. Preheat the grill or barbecue. Thread the corn (you may need to thread this through the corn itself rather than the centre of the cob), broccoli and red onion wedges onto skewers. Grill or barbecue for 10–15 minutes, turning regularly and brushing with the marinade until the vegetables are golden. Serve with couscous and salad.

    Cook's tips

    If you haven't got any teriyaki sauce, you could use a mix of soy sauce and brown sugar.

    Drinks recommendation

    Sake goes well with the flavours in the marinade and it's a great value sipping option. Serve Sawanotsuro Deluxe Sake straight and over if hot and sunny, or warm the sake if the weather turns a little chilly.
