School’s out for summer and what better way to entertain your troops than getting outside and having fun in the sun. For a fantastic family day out we've suggested some easy picnic recipes and ideas to keep the kids happy on their holidays.
Teddy Bear Picnic
Why not celebrate the sunshine with a teddy bear picnic party? Spread out picnic blankets in your garden, local park or wood and fill with colourful party food and decorations. Ask your little ones to bring their favourite teddy bears along to the spread so they can join in the fun of eating in an unusual setting. Make the most of the outside space by playing games and activities such as: frisbee, hula hoop, skipping, yo-yo, hand stands, tag, rounders, cowboys and Indians and making dens.

Stay safe in the sun
We all want to make the most of the British summer time, however the sun can cause damage to our children’s delicate skins and it is important to know how to stay safe. Here are a few sun safety tips…
- Keep babies and infants out of the sun at all times
- Use a broad-brimmed hat on children
- Apply sunscreen half an hour before going outside
- Reapply regularly, especially after swimming
- Try and stay out of the sun between 12pm to 3pm, when the sun is at its strongest
- Encourage children to play in the shade
