‘While it’s tempting to always serve whisky neat, this cocktail is the ideal celebration drink. It’s easy to make and will warm you up from the inside – especially if you’re watching the fireworks outdoors!’
Pierpaolo Petrassi, head of Waitrose wines, beers & spirits
50ml Chivas Regal 12-Year-Old Scotch Whisky
5ml maple syrup
5ml peated whisky, such as Laphroaig
1 dash Angostura bitters
Zest of 1 orange
Cherry, orange peel and black pepper, to garnish
Stir all the ingredients with ice for 30 seconds. Pour into a glass over ice (pictured second left) and garnish.
