Waitrose Cookery School Courses

So what’s on the menu today? Secrets of Fine Dining or Beginners Bread Bakery? French Brasserie or Curries of the World?

Every week we lay on an array of half-day, day and evening courses covering foods, ingredients and techniques. With our all-day courses you’ll spend the morning preparing some delicious recipes, for lunch you’ll eat what you’ve made, and in the afternoon we combine demos with lots more opportunities to get involved.

It’s all informal, informative and, most of all, fun.

One-day courses

A one-day course is a fantastic opportunity to learn the basics of each cuisine/country through a series of hands on cookery sessions and demonstrations.  It's based around 3 to 4 hands on recipes in the morning and a more relaxed cookery demonstrations in the afternoon.

If you’ve fallen in love with a country or cuisine such as Thailand, France, Morocco and have a taste for replicating it’s regional cuisine, then these are great courses.  Whereas some of our courses offer just savoury or sweet dishes our one-day world courses offer a taste of both and our bespoke courses such as bread and cakes focus on the skill.

On the relevant one-day course you always cover mini sessions on knife skills, timings, entertaining and planning.  We always include a health element to our courses.

All ingredients, refreshments and equipment are supplied on the day and you get to take home a Waitrose Cookery School folder, pen and a wealth of hints and tips from our professional chefs.

 

Half-day courses

A half-day course can be in the morning or evening and normally runs for approximately 4 hours.  It’s a great course for really getting to grips with cookery and focuses on cuisines, skills, life styles and the family.

Half-day courses cover a topic or subject and are delivered with great professionalism and knowledge.  They’re more than 4 hours so the course truly reflects what can be done within that time frame and so the recipes vary from beginner friendly to the time short customer.

Normally 3 to 4 recipes are cooked on these courses but they can also include elements of lifestyle, skills and planning.

All ingredients, refreshments and equipment are supplied on the day and you get to take home a Waitrose Cookery School folder, pen and a wealth of hints and tips from our professional chefs.

 

Two-hour courses

A two-hour course focuses on how to produce the best dish possible using amazing ingredients with lots of hints and tips from the chef.  It's normally in a one meal format that can include a series of dishes that when put together just work in harmony.  Recipes such as fish and chips that include how to make the perfect crispy batter, a rich and chunky tarter sauce, classic mushy peas and triple cooked chips.  What’s not to love.

Each element of the recipe when perfected will become a household favourite and one that you’ll always turn to.

They cover a mix of culture, cuisine, country and skill.  You’ll always walk away from this course feeling like you’ve learned something new. The basis of these courses is always hands on cookery.

Sit back, relax and taste while watching our professional chefs teaching you how easy things can be. Normally, 3 or 4 recipes are cooked on these courses but they can also include elements of lifestyle, skills and planning.
