- Shopping List. 1 sachet Colman's Beef Casserole Recipe Mix. 450g (1lb) lean braising steak, cubed. 2 medium sized onion, sliced. 2-3 carrots, sliced. 425ml (3/4 pint) of cold water. How to Cook: 1. Pre-heat the oven to 180°C, 350°F, Gas Mark 4 (170°C for fan assisted). 2. Place the beef, onions and carrots in an ovenproof casserole dish. 3. Blend the contents of the sachet with the water and add to the dish. 4. Cover and cook in the oven for 1 3/4 hours, or until the beef is tender. 5. Ensure piping hot and serve immediately with potatoes and seasonal vegetables. Why Not Try... Beef&Vegetable Casserole. A quick and easy way to up the family's vegetable intake - follow the steps but only use 1 carrot and instead add a sweet potato, peeled and cut into large chunks, and 2 sticks of chopped celery.
