    Calgary Avansino's Spiced pecans

    Serves: 4 - 6

    Ingredients

    200g raw pecans
    4 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
    2 tbsp maple syrup
    1 tsp cayenne pepper
    1 tsp ground cinnamon
    1 tsp ground nutmeg
    1 tsp ground cloves
    1 tsp salt (optional)

    Method

    1. Preheat the oven to 180°C, gas mark 4 and line a medium-sized baking sheet with baking parchment.

    2. In a medium bowl, mix the pecans with the olive oil and maple syrup. Use your hands and really mix this well so that all the pecans are coated. Then add the spices and give it another good mix.

    3. Spread the coated pecans on the baking sheet and cook in the oven for 20 minutes, stirring a few times.

    4. Once they are done, remove from the oven and sprinkle with salt, if using, and leave to cool for 10 minutes. Once cooled, if you store them in an airtight container, the pecans will last for 5 days.
