Organic
- The production of organic crops is governed by European Regulation and enforced through authorised bodies. In the UK there are several of these certifying organisations, the best known being The Soil Association. Organic meat is also produced under an EU Regulation. It is free-range, with no routine treatment with antibiotics and other drugs, and fed mainly on organic food.
- The key principle of organic farming is the health of the soil. This is maintained and developed through fixing nitrogen and increasing organic matter with techniques cuch as rotation of crops. Nitrogen is principally supplied by leguminous plants, such as clover, or farm yard manure.
- Biodiversity is also generally recognised to be high on organic farms as natural predators are actively encouraged. The use of genetically modified organisms and synthetic pesticides and fertilisers is not permitted in organic crop production.
- Only 3% of UK farmland is managed organically, and three quarters of this is still undergoing the legally required 2 year conversion period.

Access to this data is also secured internally within Waitrose and all card numbers are encrypted using a highly secure system that financial and banking institutions rely on, called Triple DES (Data Encryption Standard). Prices quoted are always estimated for a variety of reasons listed below, but you will always be charged the in-store price on the day of delivery or collection. You have the right to return any product with the driver or directly to the branch if you have any issues with price(s) charged and we will refund the amount that you have been charged for that product.
- Prices and the availability of special offers may vary for future dated deliveries and collections.
- All special offer discounts, such as Mixed Case Wine Offer and Multivalue Offers, will be deducted in-store.
- Where Multivalue offers apply to a set of differently priced items, the saving or free item applies to the cheapest item or items.
- The unit price for products that are weighed and displayed on the site are calculated on drained weight where applicable.
- Weighed items such as fruit may vary in weight from that ordered.
- Where an item is unavailable and you have indicated that you will accept substitutions, an alternative will be supplied that may affect the price that you pay. If we substitute an item with a more expensive one, you’ll only pay the lower of the two prices (if the item we are substituting was of a fixed weight and therefore has a known price). Upon delivery or collection you will be made aware of unavailable items and their substitutes.
