    Celery & pea pulao

    • Preparation time: 5 minutes + standing
    • Cooking time: 30 minutes
    • Total time: 35 minutes + standing

    Serves: 4


    • 2 tbsp sunflower oil
    • 1 tsp cumin seeds
    • 3 stalks Waitrose Duchy Organic Celery, roughly chopped
    • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
    • 100g frozen peas
    • 1 tsp salt
    • 1 tsp garam masala
    • 1 tsp chilli powder
    • 1⁄2 tsp ground turmeric
    • 200g basmati rice, washed in cold water
    • Natural yogurt, to serve


    1. Heat the oil in a large pan and add the cumin seeds; once they start to sizzle, add the chopped celery and garlic, then cook over a medium heat for 8-10 minutes. Add the peas and cook for 2 minutes until defrosted. Boil the kettle.

    2. Add the salt and spices; cook for 1 minute, then add the basmati rice and stir well. Pour in 500ml boiling water, mix, cover and cook for 15 minutes. Take off the heat and let it stand, still covered, for 10 minutes before serving. Serve with some yogurt on the side.
