Dress

To cover salad leaves with a liquid, usually salad dressing, eg dress the salad just before serving.

Dressed

1. A dish, usually a type of salad, that has been coated in salad dressing.

2. Game or poultry that has been plucked, drawn and trussed and is ready to cook. Or fish that has been scaled, gutted and cleaned ready to cook.

Dressing

A thin sauce usually based on vegetable oil, an acidic ingredient such as vinegar or lemon juice, seasoning and a variety of flavourings such as mustard, herbs, garlic or chilli. Dressings are usually served with salads including a selection of salad leaves, pasta or rice salads or vegetable salads, eg potato salad.
