    Apple and Marmalade Crisp

    Serves: 4

    • 4 large Bramley apples
    • 3-4 tbsp of marmalade
    • 110g (4oz) plain flour
    • 110g (4oz) porridge oats
    • 110g (4oz) golden granulated or demerara sugar
    • 170g (6oz) butter

    1. Peel and slice the apples and lay them in a shallow ovenproof dish. Dot the apples with spoonfuls of marmalade and flatten everything down as much as possible.
    2. Mix the flour and oats and rub in the fat. This is easily done in a food processor fitted with the metal blade. Add the sugar and cinnamon.
    3. Sprinkle or spread the mixture over the fruit using a fork, if the butter was soft the mixture can be quite sticky.
    4. Bake in a hot oven at 190°C/375/176F/gas mark 5 for 45-60 minutes or until golden brown.
