Gin

Gin

Gin is one of the most popular grain spirits along with brandy, whisky and vodka. There are many different varieties available, each with their own special combination of flavouring ingredients ranging from citrus peel, angelica and liquorice to caraway and coriander seeds. But the characteristic almost floral perfume of gin comes from the juniper berries which are used in every blend.

Waitrose sell a wide selection of gin including the most famous Gordon's Special Dry London Gin, Beefeater Gin and Plymouth Gin. Waitrose Gin and Waitrose Grain Gin are also available in 70cl, 1 litre and 1.5 litre bottles.

Uses: The classic gin-based drink is gin and tonic usually served with a slice of lemon and lots of ice. It is also included in several cocktails: Gin Fizz (gin, caster sugar, lemon juice and soda water), White Lady (gin, Cointreau, lemon juice and ice) and Dry Martini (gin and dry white vermouth).
