Maple syrup

A pouring syrup made from the evaporated sap of the maple tree, maple syrup has a rich distinctive flavour and has a sweeter flavour than sugar. Look for pure maple syrup and not maple-flavoured syrup which is inferior in taste to the real thing.

Uses: Maple syrup is the classic topping for waffles and pancakes in America. It is also a popular flavouring for ice creams and fudge.

To store: Keep in a cool dark place for up to 1 year.
