Pinot Noir - Red Argentinian WineWine of Argentina. Suitable for vegetarians and vegans.100% Pinot Noir from “Block A1”, 5ha of vines planted (originally for Sparkling wine) in 2003 at the Finca Ferrer estate. At an altitude of 1310m nestled in the foothills of the Andes and the shadow of the Dos Cumbres (twin peaks) of the Tupungato and Tupungatito volcanoes, the soils are deep alluvial sands over a pocket of rich limestone rocks. Higher than average sunshine and cold nights help the Pinot Noir grapes develop a ripe but fresh maturity without too much power and structure. Harvested on 18th March in 18kg boxes the grapes were sorted and cold-soaked (10% whole cluster) for 72-96 hrs at 10°C. Fermented in stainless steel at 20-22°C for just over 2 weeks with a malolactic fermentation following in 2nd and 3rd use 225Ltr oak barrels (70%French, 30% American) for 4 months. Once blended 10% of the wine was aged in new French oak and 40% aged in 2nd/3rd use French oak for between 5-9 months. The total production of 4,500 Ltrs was bottled on 1st June 2016 Wm Jose Antonio Montilla
