Original Dry Vermouth
The tasting experience begins with the nose ? tones of cinnamon combine with balanced herbal, along with fresh green apple and floral notes. It?s delicately spicy, with classic rancio aromas. As for the taste itself, the finesse and delicacy of the white wines lead to a complex mouthfeel, with notes of elderflower and chamomile, dry fruits and citrus, along with a fine balance of spice and acidity. Crafted by the sea, in the South of France, Noilly Prat is the original French vermouth.Noilly Prat Original Dry is created using fine white wines. A unique production step in its crafting is L’Enclos, where a selection of some of the wines used are aged outdoors in oak casks. The wines lie in their barrels in the courtyard outside the Maison for 1 year. Exposed to the natural elements of the area – cold, warm, wet, dry, wind and rain – they develop complex flavours essential to the final product. Then, after the ageing process, these wines are blended with a secret recipe of 20 herbs and spices that are carefully sourced from around the world. They include chamomile, Moroccan coriander and Tunisian oranges as well as elderflower, among others. These botanicals are added and stirred by hand every day during the maceration process, which takes place over a period of three weeks. The unique maceration and ageing process, along with the savoir-faire of the Maître de Chai, ensure that the taste of Noilly Prat Original Dry is preserved from generation to generation. And it’s precisely that taste which has made Noilly Prat a favourite as an apéritif, as well as the key ingredient in cocktails and alcoholic drinks that are now classics, such as the iconic Noilly Prat martini cocktail. Simply pour Noilly Prat Original Dry over ice and stir once. Squeeze a twist of lemon peel over the glass to release its essential oils and use the same lemon twist as a garnish.
