    The Noelgroni

    The Negroni gets a Christmas makeover


    For the spiced gin:
    1 cinnamon stick
    1 star anise
    5 cloves
    25g Waitrose Vine Fruit Mix (dried fruits aisle)
    300ml London Dry Gin

    To serve:

    25ml vermouth rosso
    25ml Campari
    Orange peel twist, to serve


    1.To begin, make the spiced gin. In a non-stick pan, lightly toast the cinnamon stick, star anise and cloves to release their aromas.

    2.Put in a preserve jar, add the vine fruit mix and the gin, then seal. Leave for 24 hours to infuse, then strain the gin into a sterilised bottle, store in the fridge for up to a week.

    3.For one Noelgroni, pour 25ml of the spiced gin with the vermouth and Campari into a mixing glass with ice, then stir to mix until chilled.

    4.Strain into a chilled cocktail glass and serve garnished with an orange peel twist.
