WHAT DOES IT TASTE LIKE?

It covers all the bases. There’s savoury depth from garlic and onion, earthiness from the turmeric and cloves, an aromatic lift from bay leaves, and a judicious amount of salt to help you fully appreciate all its flavours.

Spicy oven-baked chicken goujons & chips

Bring a little spice to a family favourite. Cut chunky chips from large potatoes (skin on or off) then toss them on a baking tray with savoury all-purpose seasoning and a drizzle of vegetable oil; move to a hot oven. Dip chicken breast strips into flour, then beaten egg, then breadcrumbs combined with a generous spoonful of savoury all-purpose seasoning. Bake alongside the chips until crisp and  thoroughly cooked with no pink meat remaining and juices that run clear. Serve together with a salad, or seasonal vegetables.

TIPS, TRICKS & HACKS

  • Use as you would salt and pepper – so in cooking to enhance your food’s savoury appeal, or at the table as a seasoning. It’s great over scrambled eggs or an omelette.
  • Sprinkle over a tray of homemade oven chips or potato wedges prior to roasting. You can also use it to season them afterwards.
  • Use as part of a dry rub for steaks with a Caribbean-style flourish or add to oil and lime juice as a marinade for chicken thighs or drumsticks.
  • Rub it into fresh breadcrumbs before coating home-fried chicken or fish.
  • Use in stews and braises to bring a taste of the tropics to dishes such as curry chicken.
