This sweet, creamy caramel style sauce, originating in South America, is made by heating milk and sugar until it thickens and darkens in colour. Its indulgent caramelised flavour adds wonderful richness to all sorts of dishes.
Try dulce de leche spooned over ice cream, pancakes or waffles, used as the ‘toffee’ in Banoffee Pie or baked into cakes and cookies.
