The story of hot sauce is an international one. Chilli peppers from the Central America were brought to Europe by the Spanish. Portuguese traders took them to colonies in Africa and Asia. And in the following centuries they found their way into regional cuisines around the world.

  • Mash into soft butter for the ultimate spiced ham & cheese toastie, to add to scrambled eggs and for buttering soldiers for soft-boiled eggs.

EASy meal IDEA

Chilli & garlic fried rice                                                                             This is a great way to use up odds and ends of veg, as well as leftover chicken.

  1. Add Cooks' Ingredients Wok Oil to awok on a medium high heat. Toss in some julienned carrot and ginger, sliced red pepper and red onion, and chopped salad onion (white parts). Stir-fry until the veg is starting to soften.
  2. Add some cold cooked rice and stir-fry for a few minutes. Toss in some leftover roast chicken, then add a handful of frozen peas and some pineapple chunks. Stir through half a jar of Chilli & Garlic sauce and continue stir-frying, scraping the rice from the base and sides of the wok as necessary.
  3. When everything is piping hot, divide the fried rice between bowls, topping each with a fried egg if you wish, and some lengths of salad onion green.
