We’ve slightly dialled down the sweetness of a piña colada and replaced the rum – made with molasses or sugar cane – with more neutral vodka, a spirit usually made with grain. But, dressed up with all the usual garnishes, it hasn’t lost any of its appeal.

  • 50ml vodka
  • 25ml coconut cream
  • 125ml pineapple juice
  • 1 pineapple slice
  • 1 pineapple leaf
  • 1 cocktail cherry


  1. Shake the vodka, coconut cream and pineapple juice with ice. Strain into a hurricane glass filled with ice cubes. Garnish with a pineapple slice, pineapple leaf and cocktail cherry.

Cook’s tip


Replace the vodka with Caleño Dark & Spicy – it’ll also give it a warm glow.
