One of these was the Hot Zombie, invented by a Puerto Rican rum company. Served with a spoonful of butter on top, it’s like a tropical variation on Hot Buttered Rum.

Swirl just-boiled water around a heatproof glass or mug to warm it, then discard. Add the sugar and dissolve it in 1 tbsp just-boiled water. Add the passion fruit syrup, pineapple and lime juices and the gold rum; top up with 120ml just-boiled water. Add the butter to the top. If liked, you can top this with a bar spoonful (1 tsp) of overproof rum and set it alight. Garnish with the cinnamon stick.
