    Pasta with Peas and Smoked Mackerel

    Produced by the experts in Italy’s Abruzza Region, essential Waitrose pasta is made with 100 per cent durum wheat and pure spring water.

    • 300g essential Waitrose Farfalle
    • 125g frozen essential Waitrose Garden Peas
    • 125g frozen essential Waitrose Baby Broad Beans
    • 1 pack essential Waitrose Hot Smoked Mackerel Fillets, skinned and flaked
    • ½ x 250g pack essential Waitrose Spinach, washed
    • 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
    • Zest and juice of 2 essential Waitrose lemons


    1. Heat a large pan of boiling water, add pasta and simmer for 7 minutes. Stir in the frozen peas and broad beans and cook for a further 3–4 minutes, until the pasta and veg are tender.
    2. Drain well and stir in the mackerel and the spinach, allowing it to wilt.
    3. Drizzle with the olive oil and lemon juice and scatter with the zest. Season with freshly ground black pepper.
