Ingredients

  • 750ml red wine
  • 60ml brandy
  • 4 tbsp golden caster sugar
  • 2 large cinnamon sticks
  • 3 star anise
  • 6 cloves
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 1 vanilla pod, cut into half lengthwise
  • 2 oranges, sliced, to garnish

Method

  1. Put all the ingredients apart from a few orange slices in a medium saucepan and heat until simmering, but not boiling. Reduce the heat and warm gently for 10 minutes. Serve warm, garnished with the remaining orange slices.
