Why choose frozen food?
Quality and freshness Our food is frozen at the peak of its quality. The key to retaining flavour and nutritional content is the way we freeze our food- the quicker you freeze, the better the quality when defrosted. This is particularly true with fruit and vegetables where the vitamin content is retained. For example, Waitrose peas and petit pois are frozen within 2 hours of harvest, faster than any other supermarket.
Convenience without compromise Using the freezer as an extension to your store cupboard is the convenient way to great tasting, nutritious meals and can save you time. Many Waitrose frozen foods can be cooked straight from frozen with no need for defrosting. Even with the extra cooking time, preparation will be much quicker.
Value for money Use just the amount you need and put the rest back in the freezer. Frozen food cuts down food waste which in turn gives you better value for money. Also, buying frozen food in bulk will save you time and money. As well as reducing the number of shopping trips you make, it means you’ll always have a ready supply of ingredients and prepared meals.
