One in four of us shops online for groceries at least once a week – that’s double the amount in 2019, and the rapid rise is the result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
There’s been a monumental shift in how we shop online in 2020, from opting for fast delivery to sending gifts to people we can’t see in person, according to our report.
And it’s been no different at waitrose.com. “What would have previously been a gradual upward climb in demand has – with the outbreak of Covid-19 – turned into a trajectory more reminiscent of scaling Everest,” says James Bailey, Waitrose executive director.
“We’ve added more than 100,000 customer order slots to the website, and currently have more than 160,000 slots available on a weekly basis.”
