Festive cranberry & maple gimlet
A classic gimlet is refreshing, tart and impeccably balanced in sweetness – the perfect cocktail to get any festive gathering going. This seasonal twist from Gurdeep Loyal uses a spiced maple syrup in place of the traditional lime cordial and sugar syrup, with cranberry juice for an extra fruity kick.

Ingredients
- 300ml No.1 Canadian Dark Maple Syrup
- ¾ tsp ground cinnamon
- ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
- ½ tsp fine sea salt
Per cocktail
- 50ml London dry gin
- 30ml lime juice (about ½ lime)
- 30ml cranberry juice
- Dash Angostura Bitters
- 25ml spiced maple syrup (from recipe, above)
- Fresh cranberries, to garnish
- Lime slices, to garnish
Method
For the spiced syrup, add the dark maple syrup to a small saucepan and gently warm. Add the cinnamon, nutmeg and salt, then whisk to mix. Keep over a low-medium heat for 3-4 minutes, then set aside to cool. Whisk again before using.
To make each gimlet, add the gin, lime juice, cranberry juice, a dash of bitters and the spiced maple syrup to a cocktail shaker. Top with ice, then shake well.
Strain into a prechilled rounded coupe cocktail glass and garnish with the cranberries and lime slices.
