Ingredients

  • 500g pack Essential Free Range Pork Mince 12% Fat
  • 3 tsp Cape Herb & Spice Texan Steakhouse Seasoning
  • ½ tsp salt
  • twist of black pepper
  • 2 tbsp clear honey
  • 4 brioche burger buns
  • your choice of toppings, such as mayonnaise, tomatoes, sliced cheese and lettuce, to serve (optional)

Method

  1. Preheat the grill to high (or preheat the barbecue or griddle pan to a medium-high heat). In a mixing bowl, the pork mince with 2 tsp Texan seasoning, salt and black pepper. Shape into 4 equal patties, pressing them to an even 1cm thick (they’ll spring up as they cook).

  2. If grilling, put the burgers on a foil-lined tray. Cook under the grill or on the barbecue for 3 minutes, then flip and cook for another 3 minutes. Meanwhile mix the honey with 1 tsp of the Texan seasoning. Brush all over the burgers and cook for a final minute on each side until glazed, golden and thoroughly cooked through with no pink meat remaining.

  3. Split open the brioche burger buns and toast briefly, then serve with the burgers and toppings of your choice, such as mayonnaise, tomatoes, sliced cheese and lettuce.

Cook’s tip

Cheese slaw (think classic coleslaw with some Cheddar grated in) makes a great accompaniment to these juicy burgers.
