Oats

Oats

The common oat is a species of cereal grain grown for its seed, which is known by the same name. Also known as porridge oats.

Jumbo oats

Jumbo oats are milled in the traditional way which creates thick whole oat flakes which have a more distinctive texture than rolled oats. Waitrose sell Organic Jumbo Oats.

Uses: Ideal for use in cooking or as a muesli base or to make a more textured, heartier porridge than standard rolled oats.

To store: Store in an airtight container in a cool dry place for up to 6 months.

Rolled oats

Oats are a type of grain, rolled oats are made by steaming and rolling whole oats to make them quicker and easier to cook.

Uses: Rolled oats are used to make porridge, muesli, flapjacks and a variety of biscuits and cakes. Oats can be stirred in crumble toppings to add extra texture and flavour.

To store: Store in an airtight container in a cool dry place for up to 6 months.

Oatmeal

Oatmeal is made by stone-grinding the oat grain. Fine, medium, rough and pinhead grades are available. Uses: Used in foods such as haggis, oatcakes and porridge.
