Folded tortillas six ways
The best ideas are always the simplest. That’s definitely the case with the folded tortilla hack first shared on video app TikTok – a neat trick that involves slicing the wrap halfway to make folding it easier.
With many of us working from home as well as looking after children, ideas for quick, easy and fun lunches are what we need right now. So we asked our innovation chef Zoe Simons for her top six folded wrap fillings for lockdown lunch inspiration.
What’s the hack?
1.
Take a large tortilla wrap, and your ingredients. For this Croque Madame version I used Cheddar, grated Gruyère, a mix of crème fraîche and Dijon mustard, Wiltshire ham and a fried egg on top. If you’re making for children, you could go really simple with grated Cheddar, ham, sliced cherry tomatoes and mayo, or make a sweet one using chocolate spread, sliced bananas and strawberries and mini marshmallows. The possibilities are endless!
2.
Fold your wrap into quarters, then lay it flat again and cut along one of the quarter lines into the centre. Place your chosen ingredients into each quarter.
3.
Fold one quarter of the wrap up, then keep folding in a clockwise direction until you have a neat parcel.
4.
Toast the wrap in a panini press or frying pan. For my Croque Madame version I finished with a fried egg on top.
