A lassi is a refreshing yogurt drink popular in South Asia. This makes a winning breakfast smoothie – use vanilla seeds or a pinch of cinnamon instead of the cardamom if you prefer.

Ingredients
3 cardamom pods
160g frozen raspberries
1 tbsp mild-flavoured honey
300g low fat natural yoghurt
50ml skimmed milk
50g crushed ice
Method
Put 2 x 175ml glasses in the freezer to chill for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, bruise the cardamom pods with a rolling pin and shake out the seeds. Crush these in a pestle and mortar or with a rolling pin on a chopping board.
Put the crushed seeds in a blender with the frozen raspberries (reserving 4 to serve), honey, yogurt, milk, a tiny pinch of salt and the crushed ice. Blend on high speed for about 2 minutes until bright pink and smooth. Divide between the chilled glasses and top with the reserved raspberries.
