The chalky south-facing slopes of the Leckford Estate, the Waitrose farm, are perfect for growing grapes for English sparkling wine. Vines are nurtured throughout the season, from pruning in winter to leaf-plucking in summer, and on chilly nights, giant candles known as 'smudge pots' are lit to ward off the frost.

When it's time for the autumn harvest, grapes are handpicked, pressed and bottle aged in cool, dark cellars. The result is Leckford Estate Brut, a soft blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, with aromas of toasted brioche and hazelnuts and peach and citrus flavours.
