Partner and food editor Silvana Franco makes a sweet treat that can be kept in the freezer until you're ready


Everyone loves brownies! That's everyone in Silvana Franco's house anyway, and in this recipe the chocolatey treat gets a makeover with an ice cream filling.

As usual food editor Silvana suggests some substitutes - in this case using dairy-free spread in place of butter and dark chocolate so her husband Rob, who's dairy-intolerant, can enjoy them too.

With her daughter Cassia, Silvana shows us the art of making the best brownie, before using it to sandwich vanilla ice cream with fresh raspberries folded in.

This treat takes just half and hour to make, but after it's been cut into squares, it does need several hours in the freezer before it's ready to eat - something Cassia finds hard to accept!
