    Steamed Broccoli with Lemon and Garlic

    A simple green vegetable is all you need to serve with the chicken. Here, tenderstem broccoli has been given a warm garlic and lemon dressing with a hint of chilli (optional).

    • Cooking time: 7 minutes
    • Total time: 12 minutes 15 minutes

    Serves: 6


    • 600g tenderstem broccoli, trimmed
    • 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
    • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
    • Grated zest and juice of 1 lemon
    • Pinch dried chilli flakes (optional)


    1. Place the broccoli in the top of a steamer or in a colander over a pan of gently simmering water. Steam for 7-8 minutes until tender but still retaining a bite.
    2. Meanwhile, gently heat the oil in a small frying pan. Add the garlic and lemon zest, and heat through for no more than 20 seconds. Remove from the hob, and add the lemon juice and chilli flakes. Season well.
    3. Place the broccoli in a large serving bowl and pour over the warmed dressing. Toss well before serving.
